PhonePe is one of India’s most trusted digital payment systems that allows users to seamlessly link their bank accounts to the app and pay for their purchases in an instant.
Users must set a PIN using their debit card to ensure the account is secure. However, PhonePe has introduced a new method in which users can set their UPI PIN without a debit card.

PhonePe unveiled a new method that allows setting UPI PIN without using a debit card. Using this process, you can easily set your UPI PIN in simple steps.
Create a UPI PIN without a debit card by following these steps.
In the upper left corner of your profile, click on the picture of your account
Go to “Payment Methods” and choose the bank account you wish to set UPI PIN for
Select “Set” or “Reset” next to “UPI Pin”
Next, you will be given an option to either choose a debit card or an Aadhaar card to set the PIN
Select the “Aadhaar Card” option instead of Debit card and click on proceed
On the next screen, enter the first 6 digits of your Aadhaar number
You will have to verify your Aadhaar and mobile number
There will be two OTPs you receive, one from the UIDAI and another from your bank
Enter the OTPs for successful verification
Now, set a secure PIN and re-enter it for confirmation
Tap confirm and your UPI PIN is set
Note: For this process to work, the mobile number associated with your bank account, Aadhaar card, and PhonePe account must be the same.
Setting UPI PIN in PhonePe using an Aadhaar card is a relatively new option. There are times you may not be able to change your UPI PIN using an Aadhaar number. Several factors can contribute to it, such as,
It's possible that you entered the wrong Aadhaar number twice. In that case, try again in 24 hours.
Your Aadhaar card is not connected to the bank account you are attempting to add to Phonepe.
It's possible that your bank does not yet support using an Aadhaar number to set a UPI PIN.
You are using an iOS device. This feature is currently available only to Android users.
In these situations, setting your PIN requires using your debit card. If you don't have a debit card, speak with your bank to find a solution.
