Block Your Card Through Customer Care

Every bank has a toll free customer care number which you can call to report the loss of your ATM card. Request them to hotlist the card, as that will prevent any unauthorized transactions from taking place.

If your Query is - SBI Debit Card Lost

If you have lost your SBI debit card, you can call the helpline on 1860 180 1290 or 39 02 02 02 (after prefixing the local STD Code). 

Select your preferred language and press ‘2’ to hotlist your lost card. 

You can also request for a new card through the customer care service.

If your Query is - HDFC Debit Card Lost

As an HDFC customer, if you lose your card you can call on 1800 202 6161 / 1860 267 6161

If you happen to lose your HDFC ATM card while traveling abroad, you can call +9122 61606160 to report it and get it blocked.

If you lose your ICICI debit card, you can report it by calling their tollfree customer care number 1800 1080. It is accessible 24X7, but you must call from your registered mobile number.

STEP-4: Finally click on ‘Confirm’ to hotlist your card. 


ICICI bank also allows its customers to report a missing debit card through netbanking. You can follow these steps - 

STEP-1: Visit the ICICI bank website and login using your credentials.

STEP-2: Go to ‘My Accounts’ → ‘Bank Accounts’ → ‘Service Requests’ → ‘ATM / Debit Card Related’ → ‘Block Debit / ATM Card’.

Report Your Stolen Debit Card Through Mobile banking

If you are a mobile banking customer, you can report your missing card and reissue a new one right from your smartphone. Let’s take a look at the step by step processes for three popular banks - 

SBI Debit Card Lost

As an SBI customer, you can use their mobile app to report your lost card as well as issue a new card for yourself by following these steps - 

STEP-1: Open your SBI card mobile app and login using your credentials.

STEP-2: Go to ‘Menu’ → ‘Service Request’ → ‘Report Lost/Stolen Card’, and select the details of the card that you lost. 

STEP-3: In case you want to reissue a card, click on ‘Reissue Card’ → ‘Submit’.


If you are searching for ‘HDFC debit card lost - what to do’, you can solve the problem right from your smartphone - 

STEP-1: Open your HDFC mobile banking app and login using your PIN.

STEP-2:Go to ‘Menu’ → ‘Pay’ → ‘Cards’, and click on the card number that you want to hotlist. 

STEP-3: Select the reason for blocking the card and soon you will get a confirmation message that your card has been successfully hotlisted.

ICICI Bank Card

STEP-1: Login to iMobile Pay app.

STEP-2: Go to ‘Smart keys & Services’ → ‘Card Services’ → ‘Block/Unblock Debit Card’.

STEP-3: Then select the details of the card you lost and click on ‘Submit’.

Report and Reissue Your Debit Card Through Your Branch 

You also have the choice to call your bank branch and request them to hotlist your card on your behalf. 

You can do so by calling or even visiting your branch. If you are visiting, you can even fill a form to request for a new debit card.


There are multiple ways to block a lost or stolen debit card. Most banks are very proactive in hotlisting lost cards. This way, you are not responsible for any transaction made after you have asked for it to be blocked. 

Your ATM card is directly linked to your bank account, and the protective password is your PIN. Remember to never write your PIN anywhere on the card cover, or somewhere close to your card. This way you will at least be able to protect your funds for some time till you block the card. 

Once you have blocked your card and received your new card, you can generate your PIN and use it normally.
