The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a scheme introduced by the government of India to provide affordable housing for all Indians by 2022.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in collaboration with private enterprises aims to provide home loans that are subsidized to the people who are eligible. Under this scheme, Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries can avail of interest subsidies of up to 6.5% on home loans for a period of 20 years.
Eligible people falling in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) / Low Income Group (LIG) can apply for the PMAY scheme till 31 March 2022 and people falling in the Middle-Income Group (MIG) 1 and Middle-Income Group (MIG) 2 can apply for this scheme only till 31 March 2021
Households with an annual income between Rs 3,00,001 and Rs 6,00,000 fall in the low-income group (LIG). Households with annual income up to Rs 3,00,000 fall in the EWS group. MIG-I comprises those households that have an annual income between Rs 6,00,000 per year to Rs 12,00,000 per year. Households with annual income between Rs 12,00,000 per year and Rs 18,00,000 per year fall in the MIG 2 group.
You can apply for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme online through the website of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Government of India.
Follow the steps mentioned below to avail interest subsidy under this scheme:
Step 1: Visit http://pmaymis.gov.in/
Step 2: Click on Citizen Assessment
Step 3: Click on Apply Online
Step 4: Click on Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP)
Here you will find the first page of the application form. On this page, you will need to enter your Aadhaar number and name as per Aadhaar. Once the number is verified, the application proceeds to the next page. On this page, you will need to enter your personal details.
Step 5: Once you provide the correct information, you will proceed to the next page where you will need to enter your name, annual income, number of family members, contact number, current residential address, caste, religion, age of the head of the family, etc.
Step 6:Once you enter all the required information, enter the captcha code in the box and click on submit to complete the PMAY online application process.
In case you make a mistake while filling the form, you can edit it with the help of your Application number and Aadhaar number.
Slum dwellers can apply for this credit-linked subsidy scheme (CLSS) online through the PMAY website by following the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Visit http://pmaymis.gov.in/
Step 2: Click on Citizen Assessment
Step 3: Click on Apply Online
Step 4: Click on In Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR) Here also, the applicants will need to enter their Aadhaar number and name as per Aadhar.
Step 5: On providing correct information, you will proceed to the next page where you will need to provide personal information such as your name, annual income, number of family members, contact number, current residential address, age of the head of the family, caste, religion etc.
Step 6:After providing all the required information, type the captcha code as shown on the screen and click on submit to complete the application process.
Those who do not want to apply for this scheme online may choose to apply for it offline though Citizen Service Centres. To apply for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana offline, you will need to find your nearest Citizen Service Centre (CSC).
There are thousands of CSCs in the country and you can find information about the center nearest to you by following these steps:
Step 1: Visit https://www.apnacsconline.in/csc-locator/
Step 2: Locate the Common Service Center (CSC) nearest to you by selecting the state, district, and a block from the drop-down menus.
You can then visit the CSC in your area and then seek their help to apply for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme offline. After that, you can fill the form, provide the required documents and apply for the PMAY scheme online. The form will only be submitted after an e-KYC process is completed.
All first-time homeowners falling under the EWS, LIC, and MIG 1 and 2 can apply for PMAY online. If you choose to apply online, you can complete the process for free. On the other hand, if you apply through a CSC, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 25.
