Step 1: Log into the UAN portal using your user ID and password.
Step 2: Select ‘Modify Basic Details’ in the ‘Modify’ section.
Step 3: On the next page, you will see the available details and the option to request a change.
Step 4: Click on the ‘Request Change’ option and fill up your name as per your Aadhaar card.
Step 5: Finally, click on the ‘Update’ button. You will get a notification saying ‘Pending approval by Employer’.
Step 6: You will need to inform your employer to approve the request. Once that is done, it will take 30 days for the change to show.
To change your details in the offline method, you will need to submit an EPF name change form. It is important to get the format of the letter right for ease of operation. Here are the particulars of the EPF name change form -
It needs to be addressed to the Regional PF Commissioner.
The subject of the letter should be ‘Joint declaration by the member and the employer’.
Include a table with 3 columns - the detail that needs to be changed, the correct entry, and the mistake that has been made.
You can follow these steps to complete the EPF name change using the offline method -
Step 1: Download the EPF name change form, and fill in the details that need to be edited.
Step 2: Mention the documents which you will be submitting as proof of the changes you want.
Step 3: Get the form attested by affixing your name to the form and signing it, and the name of the authorized signatory of the previous organization. Finally, this authority will need to sign the form and attach the company seal to it.
Step 4: Submit the form along with the supporting documents to the Office of the Regional PF Commissioner.
The process of changing your personal details or your father’s name is pretty similar. In fact, the following particulars can be corrected using the offline and online methods mentioned above -

Yes, you can easily change or correct any mistake in your name on your EPF account through the online process. All you have to do is log into the UAN portal and go to ‘Modify basic details’. Then you have to click on ‘Update details’ and wait for your employer’s approval.
