Here is how to quickly check if your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar.
You can link your mobile number with your Aadhaar card while applying for an Aadhaar card. However, if your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhaar, you have to visit your nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre to get it done. Mobile number updations can be done online from the comfort of your home.
If you are wondering how to check if your Aadhaar card is linked to your mobile number, here is how to do it. The Aadhaar link to mobile number check can be done either online or offline. Let us look at the processes one by one.
The UIDAI website makes it super easy to check the status of your linking from the comfort of your home. Follow these steps to do it -
STEP 1: Visit the official website of UIDAI.
STEP 2: Go to ‘My Aadhaar’ section → ‘Aadhaar Services’.
STEP 3: Choose the 'Verify Email/Mobile Number' option.
STEP 4: Select the ‘Verify Mobile Number’ option and enter your Aadhaar number, mobile number, and captcha code.
STEP 5: Click on ‘Submit’.
If the mobile number you entered is linked to your Aadhaar, you will see this message on the screen - ‘The mobile number you have entered is already verified with our records’.
If it is not linked, you will see this message - ‘The mobile number you have entered does not match with our records’.
Unfortunately, you cannot link your mobile number to your Aadhaar card for the first time through the online process. You can however, do it via the offline process that is discussed later.
Here is how you can update a new mobile number to your Aadhaar card through the online method -
STEP 1: Go to the Indian Postal Service website.
STEP 2: Enter your details like your name, address, PIN code, mobile number, and address.
STEP 3: Go to ‘Services’ → ‘PPB Aadhaar Service’ → ‘UIDAI-Mobile/Email to Aadhaar linking/update’
STEP 4: Click on ‘Request OTP’ once you have filled in all the details. Then enter the OTP in the specified place.
STEP 5: Click on ‘Confirm Service Request’ to receive a reference number to track your application status later.
STEP 6: The service request will go to your nearest post office branch. An officer will come to your address and verify your biometrics. Once the linking is completed, you will have to pay a fee for it.
If the online method is not working, or you want to do it in person, you can also use the offline process to check if your Aadhaar and mobile number are linked. Here are the steps you will need to follow -
STEP 1: Go to the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
STEP 2: Give your mobile number and Aadhaar number to the official present at the center.
STEP 3: The official will check and let you know if your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar number.
If you are unable to link your Aadhaar card to your mobile number online, follow these steps to do it through the offline process -
STEP 1: Go to the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
STEP 2: Request an Aadhaar correction form or download it beforehand, fill it out, and take it with you.
STEP 3: Enter your mobile number on the form and give your biometric information to the officials.
STEP 4: Submit the form and wait for the information to be updated.
Booking an appointment is not necessary; you can just visit the nearest Aadhaar enrolment/update center. However, to avoid queues, you can follow the steps below -
STEP 1: Go to the appointment booking section of the official UIDAI website.
STEP 2: Go to ‘My Aadhaar’ → ‘Book Appointment’ (Under ‘Get Aadhaar section’).
STEP 3: Select your location and click ‘Proceed to Book Appointment’.
STEP 4: Enter your mobile number and verify the Captcha code and the OTP received on your mobile number. Fill in the necessary details and select the Aadhaar Seva Kendra you wish to visit.
STEP 5: An acknowledgment slip will be generated. Print the slip and carry it with you on the date of the appointment.
Only one mobile number can be linked to your Aadhaar. But when you purchase a new SIM card, you must give your Aadhaar number. Up to nine mobile numbers can be issued using the same Aadhaar number.
Here is how you can check how many mobile numbers are issued under your Aadhaar number:
STEP 1: Visit the TAFCOP portal.
STEP 2: Go to ‘Citizen Centric Services’ → 'Know Mobile Connections in Your Name'.
STEP 3: Type in your mobile number, captcha, and the OTP you receive.
STEP 4: The next page will display all the mobile numbers issued under your Aadhaar number.
If any of the listed numbers are obsolete or not yours, you can initiate the removal process.
No document other than your Aadhaar card is required to link your mobile number with your Aadhaar. There is no need to provide any other document, address proof, or identity proof for this procedure.

There are no charges to link your mobile number to your Aadhaar card for the first time. However, you will have to pay a nominal charge of ₹50 to update the new information. You can update multiple fields at once, and you won’t have to pay anything extra for it.
You can also link your mobile number to your Aadhaar through toll-free services, available for both prepaid and postpaid customers. Here are the steps you need to follow for the same -
STEP 1: Call 14546 and follow the IVR instructions.
STEP 2: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and confirm it.
STEP 3: Enter your mobile number that is registered with Aadhaar to get OTP.
STEP 4: Give consent for your telecom provider to access your details from UIDAI.
STEP 5: Enter the OTP and finalize the verification process.
