The standard UPI transaction limit is Rs.1 Lakh. However, banks can set their limits which can vary from Rs.5,000 to Rs.1 Lakh.
In this article, we will look at the limits of UPI transactions, daily and monthly caps, bank-specific restrictions, and other platform-specific guidelines.
As per NPCI, the UPI transaction limit per day is Rs.1 Lakh across all apps. But for a few specific categories like capital markets, collections, insurance, and foreign inward remittances the transaction limit is up to Rs.2 lakh.
Now you can make UPI transactions of up to Rs.5 Lakh for the following categories:
Tax payments
Hospital and educational institutions
IPOs and RBI retail direct schemes.
Banks have the discretion to set their limits on UPI transactions and daily limits. The table below illustrates the limits set by banks for UPI transactions.

UPI payment apps too have defined their limits on the number of transactions and amount that can be transferred in a day. Keep in mind that users must abide by the limits set by their banks.
For popular UPI payment apps like Google Pay, Moneyview, MobiKwik, Paytm, PhonePay, and BHIM the daily transaction limit is Rs.1 Lakh with up to 20 transactions allowed in a day.
The general limit set in place by NPCI for UPI transactions only allows you to send Rs.1 Lakh per day. However, banks can define their limits which can be lower than Rs. 1 Lakh. UPI payment apps have limits on the number of transactions you can make in a day.
For specific categories of transactions like tax payments, IPOs, and RBI retail direct schemes the limit is Rs.5 Lakh.
