1. PNB Debit Card Activation Through SMS

Most banks now offer easy SMS banking services. You can activate your PNB debit card via SMS by following these steps -

STEP 1: Send an SMS from your registered mobile number to 5607040 or 9264092640 in this format: DCPIN <space> Card Number

STEP 2 - After verification using the code provided by the bank, a 6-digit OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. This OTP, also called Green PIN, is received via the registered telephone number and is valid for 72 hours. 

STEP 3 - Activate your PNB debit card using the OTP through net banking, PNB mobile application, ATM, or call customer care services within 72 hours. 

What is a Green PIN?

When you request debit card activation for your PNB card, PNB sends a 6-digit One-Time Password (OTP) to your registered mobile number. This OTP is known as the Green PIN.

Here are some facts about the Green PIN - 

  • The Green PIN is valid for 72 hours.

  • You need it to set or reset your 4-digit ATM PIN through SMS, internet banking, the PNB One app, phone banking, or at an ATM.

  • Without the Green PIN, you cannot complete the debit card activation process.

In short, the Green PIN is a temporary passcode sent by the bank to make your card activation secure and paperless.

2. How to Activate PNB Debit Card Online (Internet Banking)

Once you receive the 6-digit OTP by sending an SMS as described above, you can activate your PNB debit card via Internet banking with these steps -

STEP 1 - Log on to the PNB net banking site

STEP 2 - Go to ‘Value Added Services’ → ‘Card Related Services’ → ‘Set/Reset Debit Card PIN’. 

STEP 3 - Enter your card number, the expiry date, and the 6-digit OTP sent via the mobile number. Click ‘Submit’. 

STEP 4 - Enter the 4-digit PIN and then re-enter the same. Click ‘Submit’. 

STEP 5 - The PNB debit card will be activated successfully. 

3. PNB ATM Card Activation Through Mobile Banking

Follow these steps to activate your PNB debit card via the PNB One app after receiving the OTP -

STEP 1 - Open the application by downloading and installing the PNB One app on your mobile phone and then signing in. 

STEP 2 - Select Debit Cards: Navigate to ‘Debit Cards’ and click on ‘Generate Green PIN’. 

STEP 3 - Enter the debit card number, expiry date, and the OTP. 

STEP 4 - Type your new 4-digit ATM PIN Select your new PIN again on the second field to confirm it.

STEP 5 - Finally, click on ‘Submit’. 

4. Activate PNB Debit Card Through Phone Banking

You can activate the PNB debit card through phone banking after you receive the OTP that the bank provides. Follow these steps: 

STEP 1 - Call 1800-2021 or 1800-1800 and select your preferred language.

STEP 2 - Choose Debit card-related operations as the option. 

STEP 3 - Select the option for generating or verifying the OTP. 

STEP 4 - Give the 16-digit number of the debit card attached to the account. 

STEP 5 - Create a new 4-digit PIN after OTP vallidation, separate by space, and then again input the new 4-digit PIN created.

5. PNB Debit Card Activation at ATM

You can also activate your card by visiting your nearest PNB ATM. To activate your card for the first time, you will have to visit a PNB ATM. Here are the steps you need to follow -

STEP 1 - Insert your Debit card in the ATM slot.

STEP 2 - Choose ‘Generate Green PIN’ as an option. 

STEP 3 - Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

STEP 4 - Set your new 4-digit PIN.
