SBI ATM Card Blocking Through Net Banking

Nowadays everyone uses net banking instead of going to the bank physically. SBI too, just like other banks, has a net banking portal that you can use to block your ATM card -

STEP 1: Go to the SBI net banking portal and log in to Personal Banking using your credentials.

STEP 2: Go to ‘e-services’ → ‘Debit Card Services’ → ‘ATM cum Debit Card’ → ‘Block ATM Card’.

STEP 3: Select the bank account your card is linked to and click on ‘Continue’.

STEP 4: Select the card you want to block and if you want to block it temporarily or permanently.

STEP 5: Select either ‘Using One Time Password (OTP)’ or ‘Using Profile Password’ option. STEP 6: Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number or your profile password. 

STEP 7: Click on ‘Confirm’ to receive a message regarding your request.

You will get a ticket number which you may note for future reference.

Here are the steps you need to follow to block your SBI card through mobile banking -

STEP 1: Install the YONO app on your phone and log in using your MPIN.

STEP 2: Go to ‘Accounts’ → ‘My Debit Cards’.

STEP 3: Choose your account and the card you want to block.

STEP 4: Click on the ‘Block’ option.

Steps to Block an SBI Debit Card Through the YONO LITE App

The YONO LITE app is SBI’s second mobile banking app with limited functionalities. You can use this app to block your ATM card by following the steps given below -

STEP 1: Download and install the SBI YONO LITE app. Log in using your credentials. 

STEP 2: Go to ‘Services’ → ‘Debit Card Hotlisting’.

STEP 3: Choose the account linked to your card that you want to block. 

STEP 4: Select the reason for blocking, verify the OTP, and click on ‘Submit’.

How to Block SBI ATM Card Without Card Number Using Account Number?

If you have forgotten your card number, you can still block your card using just your account number. Follow these steps to block your card -

STEP 1: Go to the SBI ATM card block page and click on ‘Next Step’.

STEP 2: On the next screen, enter your account number and registered mobile number.

STEP 3: Verify the OTP that you receive on your registered mobile number.

STEP 4: You will see all the cards issued to you on the screen. Select the card you want to block and click on ‘Submit’ to block it.

To block your SBI ATM card offline, you will have to visit the nearest SBI bank branch. Once there, request for a debit card blocking form and fill it. Submit it to the officials and your card will be blocked soon.

How Do You Block Your ATM Card Temporarily?

If you just want to temporarily block your debit card, you can do it online through mobile banking and net banking. All you have to do is switch off all transactions from your card. 

Here are the steps to follow on the SBI YONO or the YONO LITE app to do it -

STEP 1: Log in to the SBI mobile banking app that you use, using your MPIN.

STEP 2: Go to ‘Accounts’ → ‘My Debit Cards’. 

STEP 3: Select the card you want to temporarily block and choose the ‘Manage Usage and Limits’ option.

STEP 4: Turn off all the transactions (domestic, international, ATM, POS, e-commerce) and click on ‘Save Changes’.

STEP 5: Verify the OTP you receive on your registered mobile number and click on ‘Submit’.
